I recently upgraded to a quad core pentium with Nvidia 8800GTX, a pretty high end system running Vista with all the MS updates. All software seems to run well except 3DC. I am experiencing very slow startup - 30 seconds to open 3DC to an empty scene, maybe a couple of minutes to open a complex model. It stalls on the splash screen with 'Loading Scene'. Once inside 3DC, the commands work well and snappy except a couple. Anything on the tools-options menu, or view selection, or grid tool, takes way long as well.

I tried all the Vista's compatibility modes, tried reinstalling 3DC, tried a video driver update, but no improvement. Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas for solutions.

Wayne

Hi Wayne,

You're not alone. I've just installed Vista with a core 2 duo and nvidia 8600 GTS and have exactly the same issue. I'm also running 3DC on a lower spec laptop without any problems!

I don't appear to have all of the plugins available either - Well the list of plugins in the options panel contain more than is available in the file menu.

Hi Chris, Wayne
I also find the loading time of canvas on a vista system (dual core processor) very slow as well.

Chris, to get your plugins to work you need to copy the following into notepad (I'm presuming you have the same plugins as me. If not add or delete the plugins to the file, as necessary):-

cd "C:\Program Files\3D Canvas 7\Plugins"
regsvr32 CountTriangles7.dll
regsvr32 DoubleSide7.dll
regsvr32 Flare7.dll
regsvr32 fSplit7.dll
regsvr32 Pipe7.dll
regsvr32 PrintH7.dll
regsvr32 ShowUnTextured7.dll
regsvr32 SwapTextures7.dll
regsvr32 TRSAttach.dll
regsvr32 TSBoilerFit7.dll
regsvr32 TSBridge7.dll
regsvr32 TSBuff7.dll
regsvr32 tsbutt7.dll
regsvr32 TSCabs7.dll
regsvr32 TSHandrail7.dll
regsvr32 TSRodz7.dll
regsvr32 TSTIMEX.dll
regsvr32 TSWheelz7.dll
regsvr32 Foundry.dll

Save the file as a .bat program eg :-

registerplugins.bat

The run the .bat program. This should enable you to see the plugins.

Cheers,
Kevin

Thanks Kevin,

That's cured that plugin problem.

Cheers, Chris
