I have 3D Canvas Pro and have uninstalled and reinstalled the product several times, deleting any documents in "My Documents" between each install both, both with and without adding the upgrade pack but to no availave.
3D Canvas passes all of its post-installation tests just fine. The problem is that after dragging a primitive (cube, cylinder, etc.) onto to display field, the following happens: #1 - The object has lines attached to it or is invisible with only the extra lines coming from the corners of the screen to where the object should be. When I click on and move the space where the object should be, the lines move to stay attached to the invisible object. 2# - If I move the object around a little bit and then change the view to Flat-Wire-Fram from Wire-Frame, or any other view for that matter, I get a system crash with a blue screen. My system reboots so quickly that I can't read all of the numbers, but I do notice the following at the bottom of the screen - nv4_disp.dll B3xxxxxx ( more numbers etc.) I'm using Nvidia's latest display drivers, v81.98. This happens when I have "hareware acceleration" enabled. When this option is disabled, 3D Canvas updates, but relatively slowly. As an aside, I have other applications installed that really push my video card and cpu, such as "Call of Duty 2" and Madden NFL 2005. Both of these programs use DirectX 9.0c hardware accelerated 3D without incident. I've run DirectX diagnostics using X-Setup Pro and my system passes all 3D hardware accelerated tests without incident. Sorry to make this so long, but one more piece of information. My paging file used to be on my C: partition of my boot drive, but the paging file couldn't grow due to it's small size, approximately 18GIG partition, so I moved the paging file to the E: partion of the boot drive and made it 8 GIGs (fixed). The old paging file on the C: partion was approximately 4 GIGs (managed by Windows) but no longer exists now. The point of this is that even when my paging file was on the C: partition, I experienced the same crashing issue with 3D Canvas Pro. In that case, I thought the problem was due to Windows not being able to grow the paging file because the C: partition at that time had very little free space-a problem I've since corrected and actually shouldn't even apply at this point in time since the paging file is now on the E: partition and is much larger. My system setup is as follows: =============================== 3D Canvas Pro 6.5.1.0 (hardware acceleration - enabled) Following Information Supplied by X-Setup Pro ============================================= Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD - (MSI) System Model: MS-7100 BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.42GHz Memory: 3328MB RAM (have 4 x 1GIG memory modules installed) Page file: 192MB used, 10972MB available DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Added by Myself =============== Video Card: BFG 78000-GTX (256MB GDDR) Video Driver: Nvidia WHQL v81.98 Sound: Using MSI-Motherboard's Creative Lab's "Sound Blaster Live" 24-bit" sound chip. NOTE: ===== The AMD Athlon 64 3500+ has support for SSE2 and SSE3 instruction sets which aren't being recognized by X-Setup Pro although CPU-Z does see these instruction sets as being available. Since my original post regarding stability issues using 3D Canvas Pro version 6.5.1.0, I've installed version 6.6.1.0 Pro and the associated upgrade package. As was stated in some of the support postings on this forum, it wasn't necessary to uninstall version 6.5.1.0, not that I could really use that version anyway (except in emulation mode), but it did make the new install more convenient.
This version of the software runs fine on my system using hardware acceleration, and seems to process objects in a cleaner fashion as well. For examples, objects which are manipulated seem to come out with less distortions and missing points, faces, etc. At this point, I consider the previous post regarding the system crashes as closed, even though I didn't receive a reply to my previous post. I guess every one is still busy just coming off of the holidays and everything. I really like this program a lot and will continue to look forward to the continuing upgrades and improvements. I think for its price, it's one of the best 3D modeling packages on the market and as a registered user, fully support further development. |
