Well, I cannot use 3DC 6.5.1.0 anymore.

Here is what was done, in this order :
1) Change driver to Catalyst 6.9
2) Go back to Catalyst 5.13 which I used previously with no problem.
3) Reinstall 6.5.1.0

No change : still the same error.

Hi Richard,

No solution ?
Nothing to look for ?
Any program you could send to trace the problem more precisely ?

Install 3D Canvas 6.6.0.2 (and desintall it for each new version of 6.6.5.0 :-( ) ?

The number indicates it is a directX error, but it's not one of the standard ones I can find.

It could be a driver failure or possibly DirectX itself - the next thing I'd try is to reinstall the DirectX 9.0c runtime.

Thanks (you're one of the best and active support in this forum !).

I tried to reinstall DirectX using the full exe from Microsoft.
Well... still the same error.

What is strange is that after reinstalling a driver (Catalyst 5.13) that worked OK, the error was still there.

The only thing I remember changing is removing .NET 1.1 (keeping only .NET 2.0). 3DC has nothing to do with .NET (until 7.0 is released).

It should be possible for Richard to send a program to help locate the error more precisely.

Solution found !!! Smile Smile Smile

I removed some DirectX options (such as Adaptative AA).
I opened 3DC then I choosed the Tools menu :
Select rendering mode / Smooth

And now I can work with 3DC just like before !
(with whatever DirectX option I want)

What do you think Richard ? Some initialization missing when the rendering option is not selected ?

(edit : I'm running Catalyst 6.9)

Thanks! This is really helpful. I'm going to try to reproduce it and see what I can find out.

I just got a PM from Elojikal.

"I hope you've already solved the problem but if not the solution is to remove the following registry key;
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\3D Canvas
Basically I found that running 6.5 and 6.6 alongside each other didn't make for a happy partnership as they seemed to share the above registry key but presumably wrote conflicting data to it.

I've found the most recent 6.6.5.x releases have addressed many of the issues that required me to run both 6.5 and 6.6 versions so I run 6.6.5.x by itself now."

Maybe Richard can comment this.

Hopefully, the simple solution "Select rendering mode / Smooth" works.
