Just upgraded to 7.1.1.3. I loaded in my most recent project which has been rendering just fine in 7.1.1.2. I attempted to render the latest incarnation and I got this old 'friend' again.
Errors occured while Raytracing. It may be that your raytracer is not configured properly or 3D Canvas is having difficulty finding associated textures. Textures should be in the same folder as your 3D Canvas scene or in the 3D Canvas Media/Textures folder.
The only change from earlier today is the installation of 7.1.1.3
Raytracing is a nice feature but not absolutely necessary. If I were to backtrack would the Extra Features still work? or would I have to find it on my system and reinstall from there. A nice feature of Firefox is that when you download something it doesn't overwrite so I still have most if not all of my downloads.
Would you need my complete model? I don't think that it's particulary the model but is a conflict somewhere in my system. I'll send you what I have anyway.

I'm not having much success making this fail. I can probably guess as to why things are failing based on what changes I made recently, but I sure would like to reproduce the problem before fixing it.
I've been trying to get the files to you by a variety of means but my e-mail server hasn't been cooperative so if you don't mind, I've sent the files to you by YouSendIt. I have a note enclosed with some of the details of my system and setup.
And for everyones information I am using 3.6.1c.icl8.win32 according to the POVray splash screen.

All I can think of is, Did you uninstall everything? Did you turn on Trainworks if you're using it? Did you restart after installing the 'Extra Features' and Trainworks? Beyond that I have no idea.

I noticed in the documentation the povray button, but I thought maybe it was now the snapshot button. I don't have a povray buttom in 3DC (I never installed povray before).
When I export to povray, I have the same result: a black image.

Some progress: My model, because I used a backdrop image when I started modelling, is high above the grid level.
When I lower it close to the grid level, I get an image in the snapshot or using povray export. However I only see a piece of the front view, not the image displayed in 3DC.
It sounds like you haven't pointed the camera at the object. If you have the camera icon selected at the top of the screen you should see a little camera that looks like an old-fashioned movie camera appear in the scene. You have to manipulate that camera so it is pointing at your object. You will have to manipulate it a bit to get it pointing right where you want it plus you'll have to play a bit with the aperture and field of view settings.
