I found a perspective view bug (edited post : lathe tool pb, in fact):
Here, I should see the objects from above: The one named "plug" is OK but not the other one. The same view with solid outline is OK: ... however, I cannot select front faces in this solid outline view (see yellow ouline) : (model sent to support) This message has been edited. I think you might of "inverted" the plug object - faces facing inwards rather than out ?
If this is so then select the object and click the invert button (10th button top row) There are 10 types of people on this world - those that understand binary and those who don't. |

Thanks, you're right: the object is inverted.
It was created by the lathe tool (which I seldom use). There is a little bug in the lathe tool which creates inverted objects. It only happens if the object is created by creating points from bottom to top in the lathe tool window. I updated the subject title. |

Actually, this isn't a bug. It's the nature of single sided faces. In 3D Canvas only faces with points that are clockwise, from the viewing location, are visible. I find it difficult to explain this. But, basically the direction that you choose your points affects whether the object is inside-out or right-side out.
It is quite conceivable that a person actually wants an inside-out object and this behaviour permits it. |

I was quite surprised with the display of my new object (I use a lot lot more the extrude tool than the lathe tool).
I understand your explaination but it's as easy for someone who wants to have an inverted object to use the invert button. ... likewise I can do it also on my last object. |

Yeah. I see your point. But, it's worked this way since 1998, so I'm not inclined to change it now. Especially since this is one of the tools that will almost certainly see a re-write in the foreseeable future.
