All,

OK - with assistance from tutorials and Buzz here at the 3DC forum - I am well on my way to completing my first model with LOD's (Level of Detail)...

It still seems a long and tedious process to create LOD's... I had thought that some guru - here - might take an interest in creating a tool to assist in this process...

I am not a developer - so these are just my thoughts... I could be totally off base...

As you make multiple copies of your model it takes a great deal of time to complete an export - just to see if a recent change to one of the LOD's causes the dreaded shape explosion in Shape Viewer... It seems we should be able to script around this...

Would it be possible to make a tool for 3DC - that performed LOD checks from within 3DC ???

For example...

Each time it is run - make a comparison - between each LOD model - and - test to insure that:

#1 The number of groups have not changed in each LOD...

#2 That each group still has at least one map - to each of the ACES initially defined for that group...

Then

Print an exception report...

The hours this would save - seems huge to me...

Instead of doing an export - and - finding out you did something wrong... Then backtrack to find out which part you deleted in error... The information would be readily available with a simple click...

Anyways - just a thought I wanted to throw out there...
