A new plugin...

Select one or more faces, enter a few dimensions and number of sides (10 in this case)

Gives 210 polys.
Each rivet is a cone, equidistant from the 2 nearest edges (but distance could vary from each point if the angle between edges changes)

Also with added nuts!

Here is another option - I ran the same plugin 3 times here, just altering the number of facets and the height and width...

The DLL is below, but currently only for 7.1.1.3

7.1.1.2 will follow when I get home tonight.

Zip/GZ archiveRivit.zip (17 Kb, 41 downloads) for 7.1.1.3 only

It looks good.
I'll try it in a few days for the buffer nuts.

Next step: build a steam loco in one click? Smile

Hello,

I just tried it.
It doesn't work on a face from an extruded object (green area on the image).

So I built a cube of the same size and use one of the cube face.
The input window says "Diameter": it's the radius actually.

Yuck, I spoke too soon.

It seems that my nuts do not survive a save and reload of the 3DC file. They show up in the heirarchy but not on the model shape any longer.

Here is what I did. I created an AXLE for roller bearing trucks. Cylinder 2.179 0.200 0.200 (So it was small diameter) I places .03 size nuts in the end caps. (It made too many, so I deleted every other nut) Looked great as a result.

But when I reloaded the model after a save... they were visibly missing.

This was a small bug which I thought I had fixed for the 7.1.2 version.

You need to do something to the objects created before they are saved.
e.g. apply a texture to all of them
This will "fix" them in 3DC.
