I get this message and a crash of the program 8 times out of 10 when I load an existing file in the same folder for editing.

This bug has bridged accross several versions of 3DCP. 6.5.0.5 is my current version.

Thanks for the tip. I've tried to follow install and reinstall instructions carefully for each upgrade, which means I use uninstall via WinXP control panel before installing a new version.

I haven't been able to find any information on error 35605. My "guess" is that it is a database issue. If that's the case then I would recommend installing these two items:

Microsoft Data Access Components

Microsoft Jet

How do you think these d/l's would work? Are they something needed to run 3DCP? My current platform is WinXP v2002.

As mentioned, this type of crash has followed me across several platforms on different computers.

The symptom is a total program crash on loading a saved file in the same working folder. The file attempting to load is saved intact as a recovered file. Same error message each time.

Yes they are required for 3D Canvas.

Are you having troubles with selected files or all files? If it is selected files then they are likely corrupt. A "compact all" (on the file menu) can sometimes fix corrupt files. Also exporting a corrupt file and then re-importing (using the directx file format) is another possibility.

If these files are needed, did I miss an instruction to install these? Or are they subordinate programs included with the Operating System? Are they running in the background when 3DCP is running?

If corrupt files are the problem, it must be all of them. It can happen loading any file I have. Starting the program again after the crash, the causal file load perfectly. Memory? I have a Gig of RAM.

I had the feeling one time it was files I had converted from one version of 3DCP to another. But it's happened on files which were totally new within the current version.

The later versions seem to be a bit more picky about where you keep textures/material files. I use to keep all these things in one folder, but now MSTS S file compiler squaks if they're not in the working folder.

3D Canvas uses various "parts" of Windows and these particualr parts may be out of date on your system. Windows Update may or may not update these.

It is also possible that some other software you install on your computer(s) is installing older versions of these files.
