I added bones to the standard skeleton for finger control on a model. The finger bones are each a child of the hand bone (came with skeletal structure) or other added finger bone, I believe the hierarchy is correct.
When I try to open skeletal range on the added bones, I get error 91 and the program shuts down. Following error 91 to the amabilis web site FAQs, it reccomends updating MDAC from a MS windows site. I installed the upload, re-started my system, opened the model and tried again. It did not fix the problem, I still get error 91 when trying to open skeletal range effects on an added finger bone. 3DC pro 6.601 This message has been edited. Last edited by: gmani, |

additional information
when dragging a bone or suite of bones into a scene, they are IK Joint enabled by default. In order to see what I was doing (IK enabled has these big circular wings that obscure parts of the model in a bone area) I turned off IK Joint, resized the bone to fit, and then re-enabled IK Joints after finding the program shut down when I tried to open skeleton effects range. The program still shuts down, enabled or not. There are two ways for an extra bone to be entered into a scene. One way is to drag it in unattached to anything, but in order to make it part of the IK cain, it has to be assigned in the hierachy. The second way is to drag it directly on top of a bone already in the scene, the bone automatically assigns as a child of the preexisting bone. I used the second way in this case. Interestingly, I added another bone to the head to give some coverage to the long hair in the model. As bones entering a scene are large, and this one did not need resizing, its skeletal range effects would open and allow me to assign a range. The bone was not 'end of he line', but attached to the exiting neck bone. In the hand, where new additions are causing a problem, the initial bones (4 were attached to the hand bone, one one to the end of the forarm bone for a thumb placement. Theoriginal hand bone causes no problems, nor does the forarm bone, but all additions shut the program down when trying to access skeletal range effects. image of configuration This message has been edited. dirty rotten trick here.
While this is a consistent problem in 6.601, the same operation does NOT cause 6.501 to crash. Never throw away anything. |
