I'm not certain what the issue is, but every time I try to render while in cartoon shading, 3DC 7.0.1.2 Pro crashes. It provides an error message, but I haven't been able to fully read it as the Microsoft error reporting utility pops up when it occurs.
Even with the MS error reporting utility disabled, the program closes immediately after displaying the error message, so quickly that I haven't had the chance to read the entire message. I believe it says something about upgrading my graphics drivers. However, my drivers were upgraded fully the first time the issue occurred. I tried rolling my drivers back to a previous version with no success. Any suggestions that may resolve the issue are appreciated. |

Just upgraded to version 7.0.2.2
Unfortunately, I am still experiencing the crashing issue when trying to render an object while in cartoon shading. My drivers are fully up to date, as well as DirectX. I don't appear to have any issues rendering in any of the other modes or rendering while using POVRay. In short, this seems to be my single biggest issue. It is particularly annoying because I upgraded from a much older Canvas version for this feature. Any help or suggestions are more than welcome, please! |

Here are my full system specs:
AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 2.19 GHZ 2GB PC3200 RAM Nvidia GeForce 6800 GS w/256mb VRAM running 93.71 drivers Windows XP SP2 with all updates 1 x 80GB Western Digital Drive 7200RPM ATA100 (reserved solely for Windows) 1 x 160GB Drive Western Digital Drive 7200RPM ATA100 (reserved for games and backup storage) 1 x 320GB Drive Western Digital Drive 7200RPM ATA100 (reserved for graphics/video/audio/3D modeling editing and storage and program/driver installation setup storage) I tried rolling back my video card drivers two versions with no effect (I also use Driver Cleaner Pro in addition to uninstalling the drivers to ensure that all driver files are removed prior to installing new drivers). I upgraded to version 7.2.2 with no effect. It is definitely repeatable. It occurs every time I try to render while in cartoon mode. |

I have one system with a NVIDIA FX5200 based card in it. It seems to work OK with cartoon rendering. That's with the current NVIDIA drivers.
Is there anyone else out there who can try cartoon rendering on their NVIDIA based system? |

An update on my cartoon rendering problem:
I'm still experiencing the issue. Now, the standard Windows shutdown prompt comes up, warning that the application must be shut down. It displays this messge: "Error signature AppName: 3dcanvas7.exe AppVer: 7.0.0.22 ModName: d3d8.dll ModVer: 5.3.2600.2180 Offset: 000318e4" It also includes a long data form which is saved to the standard Windows error reporting tool text document, in this case: 2cd1_appcompat.txt Since Windows deletes the error reporting text file once you close the error message, I copied the file from its location to My Documents while keeping the error message open and have uploaded it here . I would appreciate any assistance I could get in resolving this issue. Thanks! |
