What I’ve been making for the past few months.

Should anyone be interested in using 3DC for FS9 or FSX, here’s how we did it.

The aircraft:

I’ve been plodding along with MS Flight sim, FSX and FS9 (FS2004)

This BA Swallow II has been successfully exported to both sims using the standard DirectX export for FS9 and my FSX plugin:

I also did a small request for some bombing range targets as static scenery and ended up making quite a few:

Forgot to mention a few interesting bits of info about flight sims.

A lot of those scenery items are between 1000 to 2000 polys but FSX ‘batches’ identical materials into a single draw so the performance hit is small.

The BA Swallow aircraft above is 39,000 polys and that’s a simple model!

Theres an F14 published that has 168,000 polys external and 199,000 polys for the virtual cockpit (internal)

Hi Paul,

Hmm – looks like you are getting ready to start a nice little regional conflict somewhere… Is that a SCUD ???

As usual – superb modeling sir… Wow – I’ve often played with the idea of trying to make something for FS9/FSX… I fly an 82 Beech Sundowner which would be a w00t to see in FS9/FSX… I don’t think it is a popular enough plane for the payware guys to ever tackle…

And THAT’S a lot of POLY’s…

I think I saw a post somewhere that you mentioned a trip to Rhinbeck NY… That’s like 20 miles from my house… I went there a few times when I was a kid… Very cool…

Appreciate all that you do for this community…

Regards,
Scott

All the above soviet equipment (including the scud) can be found at RAF Spadeadam on the scottish borders <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>

I’m on final for the FS2004 version of the Swallow – beta testing this week, should be available from [img:3bhbpp0v]http://www.classicbritishfiles.com[/img:3bhbpp0v]

after that.

A bit of History
~~~~~~~~~
This British light aircraft of the 1930s was a revised version of the British Klemm (BK) Swallow 1, itself a licence built copy of the German Klemm L-25.
In 1935 the Swallow II was introduced, with the curved wing tips, rudder and tailplane inherited from the Klemm L.25 original being made straight and with revised fuselage top decking.
At this time the company changed its name to the British Aircraft Manufacturing Co., so the revised version was known as the B.A Swallow II.
Swallow IIs were produced powered either by the Pobjoy Cataract or the Cirrus Minor inline engine, production continuing until 1938, with a total of 107 Swallow IIs produced.
17 aircraft survived the second world war, only a handful remain flying today.
Hello,
It’s really nice to be able to make models with some many polys.
Do you manage all those polys with the configuration listed in your profile?
Are old planes plans easy to find?
If I had more time, seeing your good looking models, I would be tempted to try flight sim modelling. But I’m quite busy using some of my time trying to finish a 3D cab.
My main PC hasn’t changed for years – works very well <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>
There are numerous websites with 3 view drawings of nearly every aircraft.
FS9 Version released this morning in the file library of [img:2fb1c6ax]http://www.classicbritishfiles.com[/img:2fb1c6ax]
I recommend it, not just because I built it but because it’s fun to fly. It glides fantastically too – just turn off the motor.
FSX version soon.
