I’ve been using 3DC for a couple of years now to model for MSTS. Trains, however are not the only interest I have. I have a long time interest in things automotive and for the last while I’ve had this idea for a 3-wheeled sport vehicle. I’ve gone as far as I can in my head so I decided it was time to see if I could get an idea of how it would look in the real world (built over a real frame with real suspension with the compromises to really make it work).
So heres a few of the in program renders of the near complete model. It’s been very valuable in getting what the real relationship between parts (initially the steering rack had to run through a frame member now rectified). I hope you like it.

Yes, those two worthies were prominent in my mind when I was envisioning this project. Most ‘reverse trike’ designs have the engine behind the driver but for a couple of reasons important to me I wanted the engine forward. First, 3-wheelers are inherently unstable due in part to the small area bounded by the three contact patches. Keeping the centre of gravity within this area requires that that the weight be forward. This can also be done by moving the driver and passenger forward to move the engine forward. The down side of this is that the occupant’s lower limbs are now in front of the axle-line of the front wheels. I don’t like that so if I move the engine to the front I now have more of a protective zone in the event of a front collision AND reasonable weight distribution.
