Blayd,
In 3DC you are working/modelling in a 3D universe, where you can position objects at different hieghts, distances, etc. PovRay is the same. Everything has it’s own positions/coordinates in the universe.
As far as backgrounds are concerned, let me see if I can explain it right. 3DC greatly simplifies using background images in comparison to PovRay. In 3DC you just pick a .bmp image to use and 3DC will show it as a background in the scene. PovRay on the other hand has to use it’s own method, which is shown in the tutorial in Pov. To use a background image in Pov, make sure you have a copy of the image(.bmp) in the andquot;includeandquot; folder in PovRay. This way Pov can find and use the image easily, and if I’m correct should render the image as a background when rendering in 3DC using PovRay. I’m not sure I’ve explained this the best way possible so if you can’t get it to work, email me.
Read the part of the PovRay tutorial covering images, try it in PovRay, then come back and set the background image in 3DC, render it using Pov and you should get a better understanding of how it all works.
