I have read all the posts in this subject. I uninstalled V7 and reinstalled it. Doesnt matter if I export it to an .S file or if I go through Trainworks. Shapeviewer program says error – S file not unicode. I manually convert to Unicode and it doubles the size of the file. Then I can see it in Shapeviewer but in MSTS it say can not read extended shape.
File size is 2113 KB and when I convert to Unicode it is 4226 KB.

Have you got the TXT2UNI.exe program in the utils folder under the MSTS program folder?
MSTS must be installed on the same PC you export the model from for it to work.
The SD, WAG and ENG files also need converting to unicode.

The utils did have the TXT2UNI. The SD file was in as plain text which I converted manualy. I still had to manually convert the S file but after I also converted manually the SD file it worked like a charm. It loaded into MSTS but I stil don’t know why I have to do it manually. Are there different versions of TXT2UNI.EXE?

The export wizard is looking in the windows registry for the installation folder for MSTS.
It’s probably not able to find it or does not have the security access to run it (Vista???)

No its XP PRO. I have checked everything including the registry to see how this is happening.
