Texturing problem

You may have what I call a false edge. Or an unwanted shift operation. When selecting edges or points with the point tool, you have to be extra careful to not acidentally shift its position. A false edge is easier to show than explain. First drag a cube onto the screen. Now select an edge on it and click on the divide tool. If you look closely you can see the faces of the cube now have a false edge. If this face is textured it WILL show up in the texture. To corect the problem you need to select the offending pont and make an edge between it and some other point. This must be done for all faces sharing the divided edge.

Several times lately I have textured and exported a model, and when I look at it in ShapeViewer one or two objects have a face that appears to have reversed shadowing. If the face is in a shadow area it is bright and when it is in a bright area it is dark as if in a shadow.

Often I will re texture the face and when I recheck it in SV it will look OK but some other face will then have the same problem. It is always a face textured with the Paint Tool, and never a face of an object that had been textured with the Fill Tool.

I am sure the problem is in 3DC because a later examination of the offending part in 3DC will show a slight discoloring.

Is there some wrong setting or some procedure error that could cause this? If not, I guess it is reinstall time.

Am using 3DC Pro7.1.0.0, Win XP Home, PSP 7, and .BMP textures.

Thanks for any help, Bill
