Specular / translucent change without retexturing

You are right, I mismatched the two plugins. But I knew for sure that I have done the trick in the past with one of the plugins. <!– s:-) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":-)" title="Smile" /><!– s:-) –>

Hello,

Suppose you texture an object not paying attention to Specular / Translucent.

You then realize that the settings are Specular=0 / Translucent=0 and that you need Specular=85 / Translucent=2 (typical error when building an object for MSTS…).

Can I switch Specular / Translucent values without retexturing ?

Thanks for your replies.

You need the plugin ‘swap texture files’. Using this you can first adjust the correct settings for specularity and translucency to your material and in the second step use ‘swap texture files’. This will retain the old UV coordinates.

I am already using this plugin.
I haven’t thought of using it this way.

Thanks !

In addition specularity can be (better)controlled inside MSTS with Paul Gausdens ShapeFileManager, SFM

The plugin you need is the Update Material (not swap textures – that one does not change the spec/trans values, only the texture file)

Use the material selection tool on the right, change the values, select the object (or faces) and run the Update Material Plugin.
