Shrink

Run as admin is what was needed to reg the .dll, I had wrongly assumed that because I had admin rights that I wouldn’t need to do that!

However I’m still having a problem getting it to appear in the menu, I had uninstalled previous versions too.

It’s not my day today everything seems to be going wrong!

In response to a request in the general forum, a ‘diet’ plugin.

The overall size of the object doesn’t change much, but all the faces move inwards slightly by an amount multiplied by the average of all the vertex normals at each point.

Before and after pic.

You can select faces, objects or groups of objects.

Enter a shrink value e.g. 0.05m and the points move inwards by ‘about’ that value – usually slightly less. It depends on the angle the faces make with eachother.

…Handy for those shadow models that need to be slightly smaller than the main object.

I guess I’m being dumb, but I dropped the DLL in the plugins folder of 3DC, yet doesn’t seem to show up in the menus?

If you’re running vista you will need to register the DLL

regsvr32 ‘c:program files3DC 7pluginsshrink.dll’

My installer file does this for you – I’ve included the new plugin on my website as of today.

Yep I’m on vista!

Cheers for that mate!

Ran the .exe and it seemed to install ok, as it had put the DLL in the right folder, but it is still not in the menu, when I tried to reg the DLL manually it gave me an error.

I am running as Admin so I don’t understand why it gave an error. I will look into it futher and see what the problem is my end.

Did you uninstall the old version of 3DCPlugins 7.1.2 ?

Did you run the command with ‘run as adminstrator’? (far example, opening cmd window with ‘run as administrator’ and then running the command)
