Shift Centre on selection…

If I select a face and use the centre on selection operation it changes the object shape.

Can we have an operation to centre on selection but with no change in the object shape.

e.g. shift the object so the pivot point is in the centre of a face.

(I’m about to write a script for this as I can’t find a way to do it accurately in the help)
