shadow function causes error

Hi korben,
I’m using the 9000 series with the 6.14.10.6414 driver with no problem. I know thiers a lot more do-dads on the ‘all in wonder’ but what about trying an older driver? Or the trouble shooter? Just an idea ’till 3DC’s new version comes out.

shadow function causes error. when i go to click on the shadow button i get an error about my display drivers being not up to date, but yet they are, this is about all i could see until a another box comes up and says 3dc needs to close and then blocks out the orginal error box. i was also going to put this in the error/ bug section of the forum but guess i do not have access, go figure. any help would be great. i don’t usually use 3dc shadow function but it should work none the less.

Do you have an ATI video card? So far I have only seen this problem with ATI video cards.

Richard

yes i have an ati radeon 9800 all in wonder pro. what’s the problem?

-korben

I have nearly the same problem with the same card. I don’t even get an error, my computer just restarts. Of course this might be becouse of my very old display drivers, I’ll update them and see if it helps.

And btw, I also can’t get the points render to work, it just renderes as wireframe. Other modes work as they should.

Korben,

I am pretty sure it is a driver problem.

Richard

well i have the latest drivers. so what can i do?

-korben

At this point there is nothing that you can do except hope that they fix the drivers.

With the new renderer (version 6.6 or 6.7) I hope to write a more advanced shadow feature that bypasses this problem in the ATI drivers.

Richard

when will this happen?

-korben

I am not certain when the new shadow function will be available.
