hi, new to 3dC but not to 3d modeling. One of the most powerful tools in 3d is to select rows of vertices, both front face and back face of the object, for scaling and the like.

I’m sure this is probably simple, but I’ve yet to find how to select the backface as well as the front. Please help an old 3DC newbie and make him glad he got the pro version (for only $3500 less than 3d max)

thank the stars I found this forum. I absolutely MUST post silly questions just prior to FINALLY punching out the right combination and finding the answer myself.

To the newbier than I, the answer is: while you have Group Select Tool punched in on the right tool bar, hold down alt as you drag through, that selects the back faces as well as front, allowing one to size or rotate the selected vertices through an object.

By the way, I want to comment on this program. I have had the opportunity to work on 3d studio max 5.0 from a friend’s computer, however the black hearted fiend moved away, and I no longer have access to a phenominal program for 3d. BUT. Out of all the freeware and near freeware 3d progs I have used, this one is the easiest to learn with the most utility for the very low price. I’d be using 3D Max if I were independantly wealthy, but I’m not. Thank you Amabilis for making this program as user friendly, functional and AFFORDABLE as you have. My hat, rendered in 3D, is off.
