Scale To bug

Ahhh…. but you see 3DC is a Microsoft product. 100% Microsoft development tools. andnbsp; <!– s;) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!– s;) –>

Hi Richard,

I cut the top face of a cube and pasted it, discarded the rest. andnbsp;I centered it on its frame, then I tried to Scale To 0.75, 0.01, 12.0 using the appropriate tool. andnbsp;3DC hangs. Is this because it’s only one face?

Alex

Hmmm

I’ve had similar crashes, but couldn’t quite figure out a reproducible pattern. andnbsp;It was when I deleted faces from a cube as well… the progress bar stalls about halfway and 3DC no longer responds. andnbsp;

Since I just wanted a face, I got around the problem by using the face script instead.

Hi Richard, I tried 0 and other combinations… The only way I could do this was by scaling the cube, and only then copy pasting my face <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

Richard, Until you fix the andquot;Scaleandquot; and andquot;Scale Toandquot; bug when trying to scale 2D faces, here’s the workaround: drop a cube into the scene and scale it to desired size. Delete four faces around the two faces that you want to keep. Move one face to object pivot axis and move other face to the object pivot axis, putting the two faces andquot;togetherandquot;. Jeffrey.

Ian,

I had the same thing happen ONCE, but could never reproduce it. It might be the order in which they are deleted. I’ll have a look at it again (as well as the scale to issue).

Richard

I have found the with 4.23 you can only delete 4 faces of a cube. When you try to delete the fifth, it hangs.

Almost certainly. I think it is on my bug list already. Of course scaling an object that has not depth so that it has depth is impossible (0*1000=0), 3DC just isn’t smart enough to detect the impossibility. You could try entering andquot;0andquot; into the item that is wrong and see if that does it.

BTW, I posted your traingle count script. Thanks again.

Richard

With the deleting faces from a cube, I just dragged a primitive cube into play and tried various orders of deleting faces to try and leave the ‘left hand’ face (YZ plane with lowest X value) and got the same result eavey time.
I also tried deleting 4 faces, then deleting to two unwanted points of the fifth plane. It let me delete one, then hung trying to delete the second one.
Hope this helps. I was able to do a workaround, and the recovery worked fine every time, but it is a shame to have to use ‘End Task’ to kill things. I usually only have to do that with Micro$oft products.
