Hi Bill,
Yep – there are so many helpers in 3DC – I almost feel like I am cheating…

All,
RE: Steam Locomotives
Just an observation…
As I have been working on my model – I routinely look at the models of other freeware and payware developers to see what they did to handle the various issues associated with modeling a steam locomotive…
Last night – I was using Paul’s Shape Viewer program to strip off the textures of other models so I could see the basic shape in its simplest form… I started comparing the animation sequences of some of the finest payware models out there – built with GMAX…
I must say – while it’s obvious the Paul’s ‘Rod Animator’ plugin makes animating wheels and rods much easier – it also seems to make the animations smoother than anything I have seen built with GMAX…
The GMAX models had some sticky points and unnatural movements – while the Rod Animator motion seemed fluid and seemless…
I guess GMAX does not have anything comparable to ‘Rod Animator’ – so – the modeler must build each animation sequence by hand… Just another reason to use 3DC instead…
Thanks guys – keep up the good work…
Just let me know when 8.X is ready for prime time – with all the features of 7.X – OK ???
Regards,
Scott
Not only is it smooth, it is so easy to use. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>
