ROBO 1

It looks like you have some really tiny faces are not being selected by the andquot;select by directionandquot; function. The solution may be to andquot;Optimizeandquot; or perhaps to re-do the boolean subtraction.

Hello Alan,
andnbsp;Your tutorial is great! I’m haveing a problem with the andquot;select inside faceandquot; part [page 2] I end up with many faces instead of one. Same thing when I try the 3D Text tutorial. I’m sure I’m missing a step, just can’t find it.
andnbsp; Thanks, KB.

Thanks for that – I do intend to write some more tutorials, well at least finish off this one when I get some more time…..

To your problem…

When you get many faces like this you can use the right click option andquot;select by directionandquot; to, er, select all faces facing that direction <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

There is a plugin to andquot;merge facesandquot; – use this and all the selected faces become one.

Hope this helps – if it is something else let me know and I will try again.

Hello Alan,
andnbsp;I’m not rushing you, but I’m really looking forward to the rest of your tutorial, it’s a terrific learning device-no kidding.
andnbsp;Merging the faces wasn’t working until I flipped the object [mirror didn’t help] It just looks like I need some more practice on getting the faces straight or doing the andquot;weld to rangeandquot; over. I’ll do the tutorial a couple times to see if I can straighten it out.
andnbsp;Anyway-I don’t mean to carry on, but this has helped me tremendously. I have a better idea of what other posters are talking about and I wasn’t quite sure of andquot;Howandquot; to go about creating a model with more parts, this was great, thanks, KB. ;D
