Riveting!

Track motion is incredibly difficult to achieve. you need to think about all the pivot points, rotational and translational animations of every link.
Good luck.

A new plugin…

Select one or more faces, enter a few dimensions and number of sides (10 in this case)

[img:31eeop20]http://wwwnew.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22531/riv1.jpg[/img:31eeop20]

Gives 210 polys.
Each rivet is a cone, equidistant from the 2 nearest edges (but distance could vary from each point if the angle between edges changes)

[b:31eeop20]Also with added nuts![/b:31eeop20]

Here is another option – I ran the same plugin 3 times here, just altering the number of facets and the height and width…

The DLL is below, but currently only for 7.1.1.3

7.1.1.2 will follow when I get home tonight.

It looks good.
I’ll try it in a few days for the buffer nuts.

Next step: build a steam loco in one click? <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

Hello,

I just tried it.
It doesn’t work on a face from an extruded object (green area on the image).

So I built a cube of the same size and use one of the cube face.
The input window says ‘Diameter’: it’s the radius actually.

The plugin is also working on electric engine. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

This plugin ROCKS! I love it! Thanks so much!

Yuck, I spoke too soon.

It seems that my nuts do not survive a save and reload of the 3DC file. They show up in the heirarchy but not on the model shape any longer.

Here is what I did. I created an AXLE for roller bearing trucks. Cylinder 2.179 0.200 0.200 (So it was small diameter) I places .03 size nuts in the end caps. (It made too many, so I deleted every other nut) Looked great as a result.

But when I reloaded the model after a save… they were visibly missing.

This was a small bug which I thought I had fixed for the 7.1.2 version.

You need to do something to the objects created before they are saved.
e.g. apply a texture to all of them
This will ‘fix’ them in 3DC.

I can live with a work around
thanks

Rivits and Nuts Fixed (I hope) for Version 7.1.2

Yay! It works as expected now!

Hi, Can anyone help me get rivit and stairmaker to work with Vista 64? I have tried everything in the forums to get 3dc to reconize the dlls. So far. Thanks, Red Bear

Can you check to see exactly which version of 3DC you have installed (Help/About menu option)

I’ve got 7.1.1.2.. Can’t find 7.1.1.3 to download.

Hi Red Bear,

You need 7.1.2.0 <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>
