Reinstalled 3DCP v665-TAKE TWO

Yes, it’s me, Richard.

This is a new one for me. I’m going to think. I have suspicions as to the cause.

Was 6.6.5 uninstalled, then 7 uninstalled, but only 6.6.5 re-installed initially?

Trying to get around the problem already discussed, I loaded the noted version on a VISTA system laptop.

The initial install worked, entered the license keys, set up the Pro upgrade and everything worked fine and started off on my project.

I closed the program to do something else, later returning to 3DCP. Upon starting, I got a failure to configure directx error message.

I checked the DX version which is 10, I ran the dignostic, all is fine and d/l’ed any updates.

No joy, still getting the error.

Also repeated this with an uninstall and reinstall of 3DCP.

I’ve been a user of this software since at least 2002 and have been very pleased with the product as well as the support.

But looking at the forum tallies, is support vanished? Am I left to my own with a white eliphant?

Anyone out there to at least read this?

I’m one of the very few MSTS fans (Signalmaster) that take signal modeling seriously. A feature that is needed is correct compilation of subobjects within the model during the S file export. Verson 6.x has this feature, Version 7.x does not.

I brought it to the attention of the tech staff and as far as I know it hasn’t been fixed. So version 7 is of no use for my MSTS involvement.

If uninstalling doesn’t clear old file fragments, what does?

Regards,
Hank

Support does indeed exist. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –> I’m a little behind.

This type of problem is pretty tricky to resolve. Does it say anything useful in the ‘3DC.log’ file? The last line or two may be useful.

Is this Richard?

Maybe this is a new one for you.

The problem went away when I reinstalled 3DCP v7.

Go figure.
