Progress at last thanks to RW Tools. Looking at the GEOPCDX files of broken and working cabs, the working one had weatherglass_1 as the shader name and the broken one had weatherglass_0 in it. Changing that fixed the problem

Anyone know why Windows XP exports with a weatherglass_1 and Windows 7 64BIT exports exactly the same file as weatherglass_0. Wierd one.
Each of my windows has a seperate weatherglass_# to get the file to export in the first place.

Having just switched to Win 7 64 bit I’m also having problems exporting and have to edit files with RWTools. It seems that the second Diff texture is not exporting, or the weatherglass_1 object name. Without the second diff file the windows are black. Exporting through XP is till ok. I did regsvr the igs export plugin. Has anything else changed to stop the exporter working like it did for XP?

Hi
I’ve religously followed all the advice on this posting and have still failed to get any Rain Effects and I guess there is something really simple I’m not doing so any help would be much appreciated.
1st – my hierarchy – <!– ia1 –>Hierarchy1.PNG<!– ia1 –>[/attachment:28r3tjry]
2nd – is the window a single or double sided polygon? – I’ve tried both and no luck.
3rd – I’ve used Vlado’s textures, and sent them through the RWAceTool to get the ACE files.
4th – Assigned the textures as <!– ia0 –>properties.PNG<!– ia0 –>[/attachment:28r3tjry]
Done the normal Cab model, exported via Pauls latest RSIGS2 exporter.
Created the blueprint and exported correctly.
In game I can’t see the glass or rain effect, no visibility and it looks like a mirror effect???
Can’t think what else is wrong.

Two points I can see from your images Steve. The window should only be a single sided poly facing inwards to the cab.
You need the primary texture in the secondary slot as well.
There is something wrong with your environmental map as I notice you have some yellow area where the wipers wipe. My texture for this slot is pure white as it should just consist of the alpha channel and that isn’t visible in the texture slots. What does your alpha channel look like for the winwmotion_nm texture.
Vlado, how many seperate windows are you exporting on you cab?

Thanks Darren & Vlado
I note the single sided ploygon for the window which I did try but also the fact that the primary texture needs to be in the secondary slot as well.
I also had a PM from Richard Scott which confirmed these but also the fact that I needed the Wipers animation references in the Blueprint even though I had not yet built the animation in the model! – Bit of a strange one <!– s:shock: –><!– s:shock: –>
So am about to try all these suggestions this weekend and will let you know how I get on.
Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. <!– s:) –><!– s:) –>

Hi
Glad to say the problem is sorted!!
It seems to be the fact that I didn’t have the Wipers commands in the Engine blueprint.
I now get the rain effects and can sort my own texture patterns out to get the right size of raindrops.
Appreciate all the help !!

What system are you using Steve. XP, Vista, Windows7 64bit etc.
Vlado, you’ve got five seperate windows in your cab. Do you join them as one object or keep the seperate. Does each one have a different Custom name in the Rail Sim field ie weatherglass_1, weatherglass_2 etc I couldn’t get the exporter to work if I called them all weatherglass_1 in the custom field.

OK. This has to be a 64bit issue with the exporter. I’ve deleted everything on my model so all I have left is the main model and one window. It’s still converting my weatherglass_1 in the custom RailSim field to weatherglass_0 when I open the GEOPCDX file with RWTools. Changing it to 1 cures the problem.

Ok! It was nothing to do with a Windows7 64bit issue at all but a hierarchy issue again.
From this pic you can see where the non working windows were in it
[img:rip1r3yf]http://s5.postimage.org/se3ne4pyb/3_DC_D78_1.jpg[/img:rip1r3yf][/url:rip1r3yf]
and in this pic how I changed the hierarchy to get the windows working. Seems strange that the doors and thier glass are still a sub object of a sub object yet still work
[img:rip1r3yf]http://s5.postimage.org/h4axj6kwz/3_DC_D78_3.jpg[/img:rip1r3yf][/url:rip1r3yf]
Also, you don’t need any weatherglass_1 in any of the Railsim custom fields anymore, so I managed to merge the glass in the cab door to the door itself. Just have to redo the animation now. At least it fixed. Well chuffed.
