Question about texturing

Once you have used the shift tool, it appears as a shift operation in the object operations list – you can fine tune the shift there.

If you use the default coordinate system – apply the texture when viewing the object from above. Rotating the view 90 degrees so it matches the texture layout will do the trick.

Just textured a flat car deck and the board pattern was aligned from end to end instead of side to side. Is there a simple way of rotating the texture 90 degrees to alleviate a problem like this?

I rotated the deck 90 degrees with Shift Selection, so the axes wouldn’t shift, applied the texture, and rotated back using properties. It looks good but that was a lot of trouble and a little inaccurate.

This brings up a second question G Is there a way to determining the distance moved, or degrees turned, while using Shift Selection? With normal parts selection this data is presented on the bottom of the screen.

Thanks in advance for any help, Bill

Can’t you just rotate the texture in your paint app through 90 degrees…that should work.

I haven’t been able to find a way of moving/rotating by a set amount using the Shift tool, but if you use the Shift Operation instead you can enter the amounts you need.
