i don’t know if I am having a major seniors brain cramp or not,but I am having a problem doing the animation for the rods and piston for a new engine I am building.I have 3DC ver 7.1.2 and have used the animation program many times before. This is a ten wheeler I am building 4-6-0
The piston rods are a child of the Wheels2 group and the piston is a child of the main group.
See enclosed picture of the problem I am having. I hope somebody can help
The central axis of the piston/cylinder must pass through the centre of the wheel, otherwise you’ll get a very lumpy ride <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>
If a cylinder is above the wheel axis it will need to be inclined.
See first section here:

Where the cylinders are inclined by 2.7 degrees – this can be calculated from the drawings.
Thanks Paul
It is tough getting old.I don’t know how many times I looked at the plans for this engine and didn’t pick that up.As I said a major seniors brain cramp…….
