Possible to enable ‘ViewFacing’ with normal shaders?

Colleagues,

Trying to do this:

with 3DC, I came to a dead end at this point:

‘The bulb glow needs to always face the camera, so that it gives the effect of a simple lens flare. This will need to have the ‘VIEW FACING’ flag ticked in the material.’

So, in 3DC, is it at all possible to do ‘viewfacing’ with any of the shaders that do NOT include it in their name? Like AddATex in the example mentioned above.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
Michael

Hi,

I’m bringing up this old thread of mine as I found the answer for this. So in case anybody else is ever wondering how to do camera facing lamp glows:

1) Build the lamp glow like you normally would, as a single sided, translucent object (single face).
2) Add "viewfacing=1" to the RailSimX field.
3) Export. You know have a camera facing lamp glow. If it is in a "night_fx" group it will only show up at night.

Really not that difficult once you know where to look, discovered that viewfacing entry for RailSimX only recently.

Cheers!
Michael

Thanks Michael for this.

I found exactly this problem a little while ago but can now fix it.

Just to follow on from this I have a few notes –

a) This does not work at all with version 7 using either the default or new exporter.

b) This does not work in version 8 using the new exporter.

c) This works very well in version 8 using the default exporter.

I am not sure if I am using the latest version of the new exporter for Crafter but it does not seem to do as well in some instances as the default version.
