Paint Tool

As I posted earlier, you can navigate in the scene or rotate the scene (not the object) while faces are selected without losing the selection. Use CTRL+click instead of SHIFT+drag to select more faces. andnbsp;And as Les Patterson pointed out, use the paint tool on the Object Operation Panel instead of the one the right vertical toolbar.

As far as I know, the paint tool can be used on individual faces by clicking on each one, or several faces by clicking and dragging across them.

What happens if I want to paint several faces, but they are not disposed such that I can click and drag across them, i.e. I need to fiddle with the view to get access to each one… andnbsp;Is there something like a shift-click or ctrl-click where I can get the same effect as click-and-drag, but with a chance to move the view around while selecting faces to paint?

If that’s impossible, consider this a request for a future version <!– s;) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!– s;) –>

You can use CTRL + click to select other faces without deselecting the previous ones. andnbsp;As long as you are carefull not to left or right click outside the object, you can mouse-navigate in the scene (center button) or use the navigation tool on the bottom left of your screen (both move and rotate).

Use the face selection tool and Ctrl-Click will allow you to select multiple faces, and still be able to move around in the scene/model. This way you can paint a few faces, then move, then paint, etc.

I don’t think you can click-and-drag to paint four faces on a cube. At some point you would have to rotate the cube in order to paint the faces on the opposite sides. I don’t believe there is andnbsp;a way to do what you asked. If I’m wrong, someone will correct me………

Use the face selection tool as I said before, then once you have selected the faces you want to paint, go to the andquot;toolboxandquot;(object operations panel on the left), and use the paint bucket you find there to fill the faces you have selected.
I didn’t specify which paint tool to use in the earlier post, sorry…..

This method of painting also comes in handy as a andquot;workaroundandquot; if you experience crashes while using the paint brush tool.

I’m talking about the paint tool, not the fill tool. It is possible to select multiple faces and andquot;fillandquot; them from the operations panel, but the results for paint and fill are not the same.

I would like to be able to have the equivalent of clicking-and-dragging the paint tool, over 4 faces on a cube. How would you do that? Try it!

Yes, but having selected all these faces, how do you paint them? Click the ‘Paint’ tool, and you lose all your selected faces. <!– s:( –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt="" title="Sad" /><!– s:( –>
