When the objects are exported/imported points are ‘split’ (replicated) to preserve texture coordinates. The ‘Optimize’ operation can be used to remove unnecessary point splits.

A friend of mine, sent me a very complex file from a diesel loco, built with 3DMax, and I imported into the 3DC. My surprise was when I counted the polys number with the plugin.
That very complex loco, had very few numbers of Faces all of then triangulated, and almost the triple of points numbers, compare to faces. How can that comes? I always get in my models, more number of faces, rather than points.
