I was having a look through the forums and came across Georges Human Finger tutorial from a couple of years ago after he won the modelling competition in 2004 (those images seem to have gone)

I finally finished a dinosaur but not the Raptor.

A model from a single cube, repeatedly extruded, scaled and shifted.
Finally smoothed.

18,000 polys for this one, but 4500 at smooth level 1 – just need to add the bones and animate it now.
