New Fighter: Crusader

Thanks for that Les – I’ve been getting andquot;wings foldingandquot; when I’ve tried sharp bends and had not thought of this.

Off to play…..

Another new Light to Medium Class Fighter(The Crusader) has joined the fleet. Ship created from a single cube, four cylinders for guns, and two cones for the engine thrust… ;D

This one is complete with retractable canopy, pilot seat w/joystick and computer console built in, and instrument panel(just need to get the intruments textures finished now)….. ;D

Hope ya like it…. ;D

Les

Yes, more time….. ::)
andnbsp;I want to twist and distort some cones for a camp fire effect.
andnbsp;Looking forward to seeing the cockpit.

Looks great Les! I’ll have to give your mini tutorial on the cones a try, really neat. KB

Thanks KB,
Since the gradient texture turned out so good on cones, I’ve been meaning to try and make it work on spheres or whatever, but I usually forget to do it or am too busy with other stuff. Maybe one day… ;D

I had lots of fun getting this one finished, what with the canopy, seat, and all. Now I really have to get to work on the intrument textures.

Alan,
On this model, after extruding the main wings, I did a very short extrude(0.03 I think it was) at the tip of the wings, and then extruded the top face of that upward about 0.3 I think.

KB,
I think for campfire flames and things like that, I might try a lathe object because it would twist and distort more realistically. The biggest problem with it would be the high poly count.

Les

Les, when you andquot;bendandquot; the wing tips do you alter/angle andnbsp;the (old) face and then extrude or extrude and then move the new end up ?
