But, as I said, it would be good to have more options for navigation.

I haden’t used 3DC for a while, and I notice navigating with the mouse is not working as it was (I’m using 5.6), I can only move forwards or backwards in the direction I’m facing (which ends up sinking me into the ground): moving the mouse sideways used to turn me around, but it does nothing any more. Is there a setting I have to change?
I also notice constraints do not affect navigation as they used to, that’s great!

I replaced the andquot;mouseandquot; navigation recently. I forget with which release (5.5?). The goal was to provide better modelling navigation. So, the center button acts as an andquot;examineandquot; button when hovering over an object and as a andquot;zoomandquot; button when not hovering over an object.

Yes, I undertand the usefulness of the new system, when building objects that have external faces and which are more or less centered on their group. andnbsp;But my case is different:
I’m building a model of a 4-story discotheque in Amsterdam, 32m long and 6m wide. There are quite a few objects involved, and all groups are at 0, 0, 0 for re-assembly convenience, which means almost all objects are far off-centre. I work mainly on the inside of the model and whenever I want to turn around I get displaced and sent to the other end of the model and have to guess the amount of turning and then return to where I was. I’m getting used to it now, but it be possible in a future version to have a few modes for navigating, so that in this sort of scenario one could select to turn around without changing coords (like one would in a 3D game or world)?

I agree with XelaG, when i am building levels for games this can get very annoying. A new camera like he described would be really good!

Ok. I understand. Multiple user selected modes would be useful.
BTW The mode that I removed is provided on the navigation control.

The Navigation control (I suppose that is the axes on the lower left) does not do what I describe. andnbsp;What I mean is being able to turn around my own axis, independent of the editing ‘mode’ I use (which is usually ‘world coord mode’. Another handy thing would be if 3DC would remember the editing mode between sessions, I sometimes forget I’m on the default when I start up 3DC and make a super blunder <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>
