My 3DC Pro is running a bit slow. Can I reinstall it?

Oh, OK, that file is holding all of my little do-dads I’ve been making and saving to Object Librery all this time? My file is 2184 mb. I never gave it a name.
Gosh, I hope that’s it.

[b:xlizo0q3]EDIT: Yup, that’s it. I did a little file manipulating and found that what you are trying to explain is correct.[/b:xlizo0q3]

Thanks a million, Garrit. That is what I was looking for.

Hi all,
I want to reinstall 3DC Pro again because I’m experiencing some slow downs on my PC. I’m not sure why I’ve slowed down but a fresh install might help.

I have an Intel duo core processor
4 gigs ram with a 4 gig paging file
I’ve got a Geforce 8800 GTS graphics card with 640 mg on it

It shouldn’t run slow with this set up, should it?
I’m a bit of a PC guru and have absolutely nothing else running in the background. I drive a stripped down version of XP Pro with the new SP3 patch installed.

The issue is, maintaining and keeping all of the little do-dads I’ve created and saved to the Objects Library.
When I upgraded from the free version to the middle version, it didn’t matter much. Then I upgraded to the Pro version and I noticed what I had lost. I now have a ton of these little buggers I’ve spent hours creating then saving to the Objects Library and I don’t want to loose them all again.

Is there a way to save these things then slip them back into a new fresh install?

Thanks,

Hi Rick,

In the Tools/options Misc. tab you can see where the material library is stored.
Normaly this is ‘My documents3DC 7.1.2.’
Make a backup of this folder and copy them back after a fresh install.

Gerrit

Oh, my, I’ve called it the wrong name where all my little objects are. I’ve saved them to the Objects Librery. Sorry.

And, there is nothing of mine under 3DC 7.1.2, Gerrit, nor anything on my C drive either pertaining to these little objects that I can find.

Hi Rick,

Never mind that. At the bottom of your object library, you see the name of your object library.
Mine is named 3DC as you see in the picture.

Mine is stored in the folder ‘My documents3DC 7.1.2.MediaObjects’-, this is the standard place for this file.

Look in this folder for a file with the name you gave your object library.
If it is not there look in ‘Program files3DC 7MediaObjects’- or in your main 3DC Folder (‘Program files3DC 7’-)

If it is not there either, use the windows search function, to find it.

When you found it, also look at the creation date, it should be recent, to be sure you have the right file. Copy it to a save place, and copy it back after the reinstall.

Regards
Gerrit
