MissingTexture in UV re-map

In the most recent version of Crafter 8, the texture does not appear in the edit window of the UV-Re-map operation. See screenshot attached.

I can’t reproduce this with a simple model, and a much more complex model. I wonder if perhaps this is something that only happens with particular models, or after a long editing session. Can you try it at after a reboot? Or maybe just closing and re-opening 3DC.

No joy. Tried a re-boot but still the problem remains. I reloaded an earlier version (1121) and it worked o.k.

bfm feel free to send the file to me for testing, two heads better then one, or so they say.

Is this on all models, or just this particular one. If it is this particular one, try sampling the texture and seeing what shows up in the material library. For instance, is there a "primary" texture.

And, maybe you can send the model, and textures to me (<!– e –>support2@amabilis.com<!– e –>), and I can have a look.

I have e-mailed the model and textures to you as requested.

Thanks

As I re-installed version 1121, I cannot check if the problem is unique to the particular model. I only installed the new version three days ago and the model I sent is the only one I made with that version.

ok thanks I have the model, and have opened it in 9.0.1
I wonder if the problem is a matter of scale?
I work in metres and when I opened your platforms I could not see them at first.
Turns out the location was at 170.2981X 0.5Y 105.6045 Z
So I got it back to the centre of my screen and the size was massive, just how long are these platforms?
I get a model that is 202.4083 metres wide (both platforms and the gap)
and 22.4061 metres long

very nice looking platforms btw, will have a look at UV re-map next and see if there is a clue.

ok, well I am surely no expert, x being the unknown factor,
in 9.0.1 you can’t use UV re-map operation with more than one texture applied to a object, so I removed the two textures you had and just applied the no3 texture. The result in UV re-map is this.

what I did find confusing is that even after you removed one texture, UV remap thinks the object has more then one texture applied, as it has colour in the first slots to show parts and a texture in the second main texture slot. Does the remap consider coloured parts as textured? Also of interest was that the auto unwrap feature would not open this object at all.

opening in version 8.2.7 build 1126 gives more or less the same as above, but….
the UV map selection button is available. Clicking on it does nothing however.

Thanks for that information. I have not (so far) graduated to Crafter 9 so I am not aware of the differences between the two versions.

The platforms are at Limerick Train station in Ireland and the dimensions are correct. I was not aware that there could be any limit to the size of models in Crafter – I never had any problem with previous equally large or larger stations, such as Heuston Station in Dublin.

As I mentioned, I have been able to continue working with the earlier version 1121 which displays the texture correctly and have now moved beyond the platforms.

ok good o. I was not doubting your modelling, I have just never seen platforms so long, being in New Zealand we are use to small. with the tests I have done and the information supplied I am sure someone will come up with an answer.

I received the model and had a look. With the version of 3DC I am using (8.2.7.1139), every face I click on and "remap" seems to work. So, no faces work in 1126?

Did you try build 1134 that was released on 20th? Though, I can’t see why there would be a difference between these builds. I don’t recall any changes related to this.

I must have had a problem with the original installation of 1134 version. I just re-installed it and the texture now shows correctly in the re-map window.

Many thanks for the excellent support from both of you.
