Merging objects : size limit ?

If your going to keep re-using the interior for other models the library method would probably be best to get the two files together.

I’ll do it this way.

You shouldn’t have a problem importing a model with 5,000 polys.

OK. Thanks !

Hello,

I started a new train for MSTS.

[img:kzl95fg8]http://img326.imageshack.us/img326/9964/image21ef.jpg[/img:kzl95fg8]

With my previous train, interior and exterior were in the same 3DC file (*.3dc).

This time I want to have interior and exterior in separate 3DC files.
Then I’ll need to merge interior into the exterior model.

I see here that there are 2 ways to do that
( [img:kzl95fg8]http://amabilis.com/forumattachments/a/tpc/f/8846020084/m/10210051521[/img:kzl95fg8]

) :
1) object library method
2) cut / paste hierarchy

Is there any limitation for the size of the model to import (I believe the interior would have around 5.000 polygons).

Thanks for your replies.

Not sure if you just want to bring the two files together into one or Merge the interior with the exterior as well.

If your going to keep re-using the interior for other models the library method would probably be best to get the two files together.

If you are then going to Merge the interior and exterior you may get some slowdown with some of the 3DC operations. Depends a bit on your system specs. You would end up with just one object with quite a high poly count.
If MSTS allows it I would keep the interior as a seperate item/group.

You shouldn’t have a problem importing a model with 5,000 polys.

Nice model BTW. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>
