Here’s one for the scripting/plugin gurus.
I’ve been looking at the FillUntextured plugin and wondering;
1). Using the FillUntextured Plugin as a guideline, could a plugin be written that would only change/replace the material(s) on certain faces or groups of faces, and not on the whole object?
This is the sequence that I had in mind.
A) Select a face material using the Eyedropper Tool.
The script/plugin finds all faces on the object that have the same material as the selected face.
C) The script/plugin then allows you to set up a new material in the material/colors panel in 3DC.
D) The script/plugin then fills/replaces the material/color only on those faces, and not the entire object.
It looks as though this could be done, but I really don’t know enough about scripting and plugins to know what changes to make.
Any comments or ideas appreciated…
Les
Hi Les,
All of this can actually be done already using the andquot;Select by Materialandquot; function that is available by right-clicking on the face with the material you want to update. Then you can use the andquot;Update Materialandquot; plug-in to replace the material.
