Locomotive lights.

I have always done my ‘light’ work from within the ENG with my text editor. I only use a small OBJECT as a temporary guide to determine the x.y.z position where the light should go… write it down… then delete it in the scene.

Later, when working with the ENG file, I use my notes to help me place my lights.

Hi,I have made a diesel loco model in the 3DC,placed the lights,on the loco, like the tutorial said, the lights are showing,in the hierarchy.
I then, put the model in the simulator, tried the lights, and they did not work,i went back to the engine file, for this loco, and there was no lights section,in the engine file.
I have got the 6.5.1.0.version,i have the pro version,of 3DC.
I just wondered if anyone, could please tell me,why i have no light section, showing in the engine file.
I would be very gratefull,if anyone could explaine to me,why placing the lights,on the loco,in the 3DC,is not working,in the simulator.
Many Thanks,Howard.

Hello,

This might not be quite the response you are expecting but here is what I do for the lights (I had your kind of problem and also my model crashing in MSTS with the lights exported from 3DC) :
1) Set the spot light objects at the right place in 3DC. Take note of their x, y, z coordinates as well as the spot light coordinates.
2) Export the 3DC model without the spot lights (the point light remains).
3) Get a light bloc from another MSTS model (after making sure that the lights are working on this model)
4) Change the lights coordinates with your coordinates (from step 1).
Position ( 1.11 1.876 11.123 ) means that the lights are at X=1.11 Y=1.876 Z=11.123
5) Put the lights bloc after AntiSlip in the *.eng file

Eventually, I have a *.eng file properly configured to overwrite the one created by 3DC plugin.

Hi,Dom,Thanks for the info,on the loco lights,i could not undertand,as to why the wizard, will not transport them, into the engine file.
The lights are there on the loco, and are showing in the hierarchy, but the lights are not not showing,in the engine file,i thought it might have something to do with the latest version of the 3DC,not letting the light go,with the model.
I think i will do as you suggested Dom,copy and paste a light section, into the engine file, and get the light settings, from the model in the 3DC.
Many thanks,Howard.
