Lighting Q

Yes, It does make sense, I kind of knew how it works, but was wondering why I could use the color on some objects, but when used in my lights to warm the lighting, it was making everything green. I didnt think about the ambient andquot;mixing andquot; with the actual colors of the objects. But I’m still not sure this was the case as the moldings for example were colored an off white, and the lights were almost the same color, and I got very andquot;limeandquot; green. Anyway, I just darkened the lights with an orange red till they were almost black, and got what you see in the posted pic. Thanks though..gave me somemore to think about when I light my next scene. andnbsp;8)

In the room scene I posted in the models feedback, I had difficulty when changing a lights color. I had dropped a point light into the scene, and wanted a warmer light. I tried to change the color to an off white, like a very light beige. The color illuminated everything a lime green. when I reopened the properties box, the light was indeed green. I changed it again, looked at the sceene, and again it was green, but when I opened the properties again, the color indicator was my andquot; beigeandquot; color, but illuminated green in the scene. it was like 3DC was having trouble reading the defined color I wanted. I had to change the color to a very, very dark blackish/orange to get the warm effect. Any ideas??

blaydrnnnr,
Beige has a certain amount of Yellow in it, so if any of your objects in the scene have a blueish color to them, then you could conceivably get a greenish reflected color.

If I’m remembering this correctly, I believe the color that your eyes see is actually the ambient color of an object combined with the color of the light being reflected/bounced off the object. That my not be worded exactly right either……. ;D

It’s kinda like looking at the sunset and the sun looks really red. That’s because the atmosphere, and clouds coloring changes the appearance of the suns color by adding some of their color to it, and filtering other parts of it out.

Does this make any sense at all, or have I just taken one step too many towards the deep end……….. :-/
