KRS – Texture Problem View In Game

The problem is not related to 3DC export, graphics card or KRS <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

When you use the paintpot on an end face the texture coordinates are correct.
The top and bottom surfaces however have identical U or V values, stretching the texture.
If you have a bump map in the shader this gets very confused and decides it can’t compute the normals properly so it gets shaded black.

As noted – the paintbrush fixes this because the UV’s for all vertices are different.

Not a very clear explanation I know but your solution is the correct one.

I seem to have found a problem with a model of mine when viewing it in KRS which may be a graphics card or a 3DC problem.
When using the Fill tool (paintpot) to texture an object and applying the TrainBumpSpecEnvMask.fx shader, I see black textures on non direct facing surfaces relating to the face on view that I used to apply the texture. If I repaint these black surfaces with the paintbrush tool, then the surfaces appear fine once I re-export them into KRS.
I’ve found that this effect only occurs with this TrainBumpSpecEnvMask specific shader, the TrainSpecEnvMask.fx shader works fine with the Fill tool.
The model and textures look fine in 3DC.
I have a Nvidia Geforce 8800GT card with the latest drivers installed.
Picture is attached to show the effect more clearly. Anyone seen this type of issue before?
Any ideas as to whether it’s a graphics card or 3DC bug would be welcome.
Thanks
Steve

Hello,

I noticed the black texture problem too.
You can see [img:22n9nz5n]http&#58;//amabilis&#46;com/forumattachments/a/tpc/f/2336078974/m/10310935541?r=50310479541#50310479541[/img:22n9nz5n]
here
on the front light support on the left.
The support was filled with the paintpot + TrainBumpSpecEnvMask.fx shader.

I also have Nvidia card.

Hi
That’s good to hear!
The suspicion is a graphics problem then?
Perhaps Richard could confirm if he believes that is true or whether there is something dirrerent in his code for that specifc shader.

Steve

I upgraded KRS to MK2: no change. The black texture is still there.
