Keep getting following error using subtract:

I am trying to use the subtract operation subtracting a cube primitive from a stretched cylinder primitive. Firstly there is an alert andquot;target is not solidandquot;, from then on after no alert, simply illegal operation error from windows as follows:

I am running 3D C Pro version 5 (just dowloaded) on a Gateway Pentium III 700 with NVIDIA TNT2 and latest drivers.
