Italian coaches

To all, and especially for Richard. I don’t want to chuck the 3DC. I like 3DC because it is easy to use and very easy to work with UV maps. 3DC is a good program but the results are bad when exports. Richard would really should work on that. I have no money for 3DMax. Did you know that a very low standard in Croatia? Purchase of Rail Simulators and 3DC I spent 1/4 (actually 1/3) of my salary. This is a really big sacrifice and renunciation and therefore I expect the support of Amabilis and RS teams.

For now i solved the problem by modifying manually the GeoPcDx; i have found the tag MipLodBias and this is the setting:
andlt;MipLodBiasandgt;
andlt;e d:type=’sFloat32′ d:alt_encoding=’0000000000000000′ d:Precision=’string’andgt;-2.0000andlt;/eandgt;
andlt;/MipLodBiasandgt;

Do you mean on every place where this occurs? I saw this occurs at many places. And what about
andlt;LightGlowFadeDistance d:type=’sFloat32′ d:alt_encoding=’0000000000000000′ d:Precision=’string’andgt;0.0000andlt;/LightGlowFadeDistanceandgt;

Vlado,

I think I may have a possible solution to your MIP stepping problem. I don’t have RS so I can’t test it.

Is there a tag somewhere in the GeoPcDx file that mentions MipFilter ???

If it is set to 0, try values of 1, 2 or 3

Hi Paul,
in the file GeoPcDx this is the original voice:
andlt;MipLodBiasandgt;
andlt;e d:type=’sFloat32′ d:alt_encoding=’00000000000000C0′ d:Precision=’string’andgt;[span class=’ev_code_RED’][b:10h4t7fd]0.0000[/b:10h4t7fd][/span]andlt;/eandgt;
andlt;/MipLodBiasandgt;

he should be:
andlt;MipLodBiasandgt;
andlt;e d:type=’sFloat32′ d:alt_encoding=’00000000000000C0′ d:Precision=’string’andgt;[span class=’ev_code_RED’][b:10h4t7fd]-2.0000[/b:10h4t7fd][/span]andlt;/eandgt;
andlt;/MipLodBiasandgt;

could you resolve the problem?

This was the problem. Thanks a lot all of you showed me the way. In my file looks like this:

andlt;MipFilterandgt;
andlt;e d:type=’cDeltaString’andgt;HC_FILTER_MODE_NEAREST_POINTandlt;/eandgt;
andlt;/MipFilterandgt;

The word NEAREST_POINT should replace with word LINEAR and should look like this:

andlt;MipFilterandgt;
andlt;e d:type=’cDeltaString’andgt;HC_FILTER_MODE_LINEARandlt;/eandgt;
andlt;/MipFilterandgt;

It solved the rough crossing between levels, and now it looks as 3Dmax version of my picture.

Of course, and line that Pasquale is wrote must contain -2.0000 because it determines how early kicking appear.

I hope that this will be resolved in the new version of 3DC to avoid manually adjustable.

I think that both values are needed, Miplod bias and mipfilter; and z buffer also!

I’m afraid that the story back to the beginning. It seems that the RSC does not allow editing .geopcdx files. I don’t want to release my new loco with bad texture MIP levels. And what now?
Also, I wrote about it [img:1qfubou2]http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=215andt=88431andst=0andsk=tandsd=aandstart=15#p1356952[/img:1qfubou2]
here

Hello,

It seems that the problem has been around for a long time.
We shouldn’t have to permanently edit geopcdx files.
So I think you should report this in the bug section.

I’ll check this also on my models.

You can edit geopcdx files using RW_Tools which is available here:

[/div][/BLOCKQUOTE]That’s the point. Please read what Mike (author of RWTools) wrote:[BLOCKQUOTE class=’ip-ubbcode-quote[/img]

Yes, .geopcdx files for locomotives built by Kuju and RSC can not be modified with serz.exe – I complained about this to RSDL back in Rail Simulator days when users complained they could not save the Black 5 loco files, but was advised that they did not wish users to be able to modify the locomotive .geopcdx files and had no intention of changing this.

Since then, several other loco files have proved to be impossible to resave which is a pity as some people do wish to make changes to both the LODs and to the texture paths, but sorry, nothing I can do about it.
