Importing Question.

I’ll give it a try. The model is available from the download page of Amabilis. Along with the ant and several others. It’s really not a big deal, my young son wanted to try and import the Artist Model into a scene he built to try some animation. When I tried importing it as an .X, the mesh body imported in, but no bones. I told him it might be just as easy to just build a new scene around the Artist’s Model. Thanks for the reply. He actually got the inspiration from watching me…. after doing litlerally hundreds of stills, I’m just starting to play with the animation now that my newer system can actually handle it. So… I’ll be asking alot of questions. Thanks again!!!

Is there a way to import the ‘Artists Model’ into an already working scene? And if so, how would you go about scaling the whole model, bones and all.. or am I asking just alittle too much? I originally tried exporting the whole Artist hierarchy as an .X, than import it into the scene… but the bones didnt make it, and it needs to be scaled. I’m sure if I have to take the time, I could scale each, individual part, then bring a skeleton into the scene, but I was hoping that I might be missing an easier way. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help. <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

I don’t have this model…is it just a single mesh with a skeleton and animation.

To get it into your scene you should be able to use copy and paste.
Open the Artists model file, select the parent bone and from the component popup menu choose ‘Select Hierarchy’.
From the Edit menu select ‘Copy’.
Open your main scene file and from the Edit menu select paste.

You could also try saving the artists model as a library item and load it into your scene that way.

Re-scaling could be a problem. I’ve just tried it with one of my single mesh figure models…as above really.
Select the parent bone…select Hierarchy and re-scale…the problem is that the figure will have to be re-animated after the re-scale.

Hope some of this helps.
