I need a bit of help with textures and settings

Yes, I did find that and have read it.
I was basically asking folks what to do about it in regards to losing the naturalness by reducing the specular value.

You’re always a BIG help, Paul.

Thank you,

I have recently come back to MSTS and have been told that my settings need to be,

Diffuse = 80
Ambiance = 20
Specular = 80
Translucency = 0

My models have the proper lighting on them with the exception of a gawdawful shine, now.
I’ve played with the specular setting and found that the higher I go, the more shine they have but the lower I go, the less natural lighting they have.
A new shiny metal object is fine but a wooden fence with a high gloss shine is not very realistic.
I need to kill that shine and don’t know how to go about it.

I have found that reducing the specular value will remove the shine although, it will also remove any natural highlights and shadows the sim creates for naturalness.
There doesn’t seem to be a happy medium here.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

In MSTS, the Diffuse value is not used.

Specular 0 makes things glow in the dark.
1 – normal lighting
25 ‘lo shine’
50 ‘high shine’

Ambient 0 makes objects permanently shaded.
over 50(?) makes objects bright.
