Here’s one for the Game Programmers

Thanks! <!– s:D –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!– s:D –>

This model was made from a single cube. No smoothing, no addons, and it should have a very low poly count.
It only has 192 faces and 198 points. The first pic is the model in 3DC Pro, and the second is the same model finished in MegaPov.

Here’s the second pic.

It looks very faithful to your style despite the low polycount. You could actually up the count to around 500-700 if you wanted, since that wouldn’t hurt any of the modern game engines any. At any rate, you’ve done a better job of slimming down the polycount than I ever could, since I’m usually too attached to my little details to get rid of them, LOL

You’re making me want to slap together some spacecraft models of my own. Stop that! <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!– s:) –>

Is that a special texture for the shine and reflection or is that a feature of 3DC. (I am a very new to 3DC so this might sound stupid)

Mel_Ebbles,
Thanks guy. I wasn’t really sure just how far I could go with the poly count since I know that not all engines can handle the same poly counts, and I don’t know exactly how to calculate the count either. That’s one reason I didn’t give it any addons or any other objects merged into it.

Nacho,
The first model was the 3DC colors/textures. You can get quite a bit of specular(shiny attributes) in 3DC, but in order to get the Chrome look with all it’s reflectiveness, I use MegaPov v0.7(unofficial version of PovRay). You can export 3DC Pro models into MegaPov, and PovRay, to do finishing touches on surfaces, glass, etc. Since I purchased 3DCPro, and started learning how to use PovRay, I can’t tell you how much fun it has been. Also, with the tremendous amount of work, and added functionality that Richard is putting into 3DC, who knows, at some point in the future you may be able to do everything right in 3DC.
