Freehand Group Selection

The thing that I don’t know is possible is to do that more than once i.e. like holding down the Ctrl key while selecting points. Right now I don’t know of a way of selecting a point and getting all adjacent faces then selecting another point and adding the adjacent faces to those already selected.

It would be nice to be able to use a freehand drawing tool for group selection of points. There are many times that the standard rectangular box will not work. If you have many points to select it takes forever.

i totaly agree on this one..sometimes it takes forever to select the points you need and the rectangle is not very accurate..

Example of what I am talking about. If I have a curved object, I cannot select the needed points with the rectangular selection of Group Selection Tool. I have to take the time to select the needed points one at a time. A freehand selection would be really nice for this and would save lots of modeling time. The attached pik demonstrates what I mean.

The other possibility I was thinking of would be to allow multiple selections as in holding down the Ctrl key or something similar.
While we’re asking for things, I’d also like to be able to select surfaces in the same way that points can be selected. If you select a group of points then any polygons that have all their points selected would be selected.

Depending on what you are trying to select, you’re already holding down shift and Ctrl keys when using group select, so a freehand tool would work better. Selecting faces is easy already. Just click on the first face then hold down Ctrl and drag the pointer across the faces you want and they will be selected.

wmalder,

Assuming that I am understanding you correctly, you can already do this. If you have points selected, right-click (while over one of the ponints) and choose ‘Select Faces’ and every face that one of the points touches is also selected.

The reverse is true also. You can select all points that are used by the selected faces.

There are other options like this as well.
