First model on new machine

Once again..very cool ship Les….really liked the hollow extrusions ( your engines ) at least i think those were hollow extrusions…And i too will soon be on very upgraded devices..i am currently just waiting for the right time to install new vid card( ATI Radeon64Mb) and upgradeing to XP. I hope to get alot more problem free use from 3DC. right now my system crashes about every 30 minutes or so running on Win98se and 8 Mb Nvidia card. Great ship..i am going to try a few myself…Your site was great inspiration…would love to figure out how the backgrounds were done in POV and model inported…Later..

Here’s the first model I’ve done on my brand spanking new computer…. ;D ;D ;D

Finished in about a third of the time it took me before. This was created from a three sided cylinder. Lots of Extrudes, chamfers, etc. but no smoothing on this one.

P.S.
I still have to apply textures, glass, add missiles, paint, etc. so I guess it’s not quite finished after all….. ;D

blaydrnnnr,
The box-looking things on the sides of the ship are actually disposable missile pods. Once all missiles are fired, the pod will automatically detatch itself. It should cut down re-arming time if used in a game.

Most of my earlier(before this new machine), were exported to PovRay first, then I would add galaxies, nebulas, stars, starfields, etc, using the Galaxy.inc file in PovRay. It just takes a lot of reading, and some trial and error in positioning everything in a PovRay universe, to get the end results the way you want them.

From now on, hopefully I will be able to set it all up in 3DC and just render the scene using PovRay.

Thanks for the praise! I’m glad you enjoy my site and find the tutorials useful…….. ;D
