exporting toolshed

Hi,Scott,I have checked the toolstore out and i found that i had took underneath the plinth off the base, instead of the main body bit at the bottom,as soon as i replaced that,it let it go into the sim, straight away,i have not got the pro 3DC scott,i have got the plus one, thanks for the information on the faces of an object, the next step i am going to try,is,having a go at doing is the transparency of windows.
Thankyou for your help scott, every little helps.
Many thanks,Howard.

Hi,I am a newbie in here,
I have just followed the tutorial on the toolstore,i have followed it step by step, and then after the train wizard has sent it to the simulator,i checked the texture files to see it it had put it in there,it had put it in there ok,but,it put it down as toolstore bmp.
then i ran the route editor,
then when i come to place the toolstore into the route editor,i get an error massage that says,
failed to open texture file.
routeseuropetexturestoolstorerexture.
I did try the tutorial on puttting the sphere into the simulator, that went in no problem,
I used the paint shop pro7 to do the toolshed with,
I would be very gratefull if any one could tell me why it will not let the toolstore into the simulator, and why it would not open the texture file,
Thanks,Howard.

A couple of possibilities:

1) Install the MSTS service pack(s)

2) Make sure that when you run the wizard that ‘convert textures’ box is checked.

Richard

Hi,Richard,I have tried the two things that you said and it is still the same,I did try to use the makeace on its own and that would not convert it to the texture files,to a makeace file.
I have also tried the unregister ace in the prefs of the tgatool, but that made no difference.
Thanks,Howard.

Your post is a little confusing so forgive me if I’m ‘teaching granma to suck eggs’ <!– s;) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!– s;) –>
Assuming that you have the ‘Convert Textures’ box ticked, then providing that your path to MSTS Utils folder and the MakeAce file has been correctly identified to 3DC, then you should find that the ‘toolstorerexture’ file should be in the routes texture folder with a .ACE extension. Use windows explorer to check that the file is present.
If it isn’t then it would suggest that 3DC can’t find the Makeace utility to call on. make sure that the MSTS path is correctly identified to 3DC
Alternatively, use TGATools2 to open the original BMP file and use the Export, ACE(no alpha) option to create the ACE seperately and then manually move it to the MSTS texture folder. Again if TGATools can’t find the MakeAce utility then the export will fail.
Usually it’s the path identity that causes the problem.
One other thought is that the BMP files MUST be square (ie. 128×128, 512×512 etc). These are the most common file dimensions. Make sure your BMP file is produced to one of these dimensions or MAkeAce will not process teh file into a ACE

Steve

Hi,Steve thanks for the info,I have set up the tgatool prog, and what i have done steve,is restarted the tutorial on the toolstore, and i have just finished the model of it,in the 3DC,and just textured it,and gone through the train wizard steve, and it is now saying that it will not let it in,as all the faces needs to be textured, all the faces that i can see i have textured them, the only two what is not,is underneath the plinth, and underneath the roof,as the tutorial tell you to take these out,
so i cannot test the train wizard, till i can get this problem sorted out, steve.
I would be vary gratefull if you know what might be causing this problem.
Many thanks,Howard.

Hi Howard…

If you have the pro-version – you select the entire hiarchey of the model – then – under your plug-ins – run the ‘Fill All Untextured’ or something like that… I usually just create a 512×512 white bitmap – and – have that selected as my texture… The plugin will the apply that texture to ALL untextured faces…

You may need to download the plug-in from the download page… Not sure…

Also there is another one to show all untextured faces.. Again select the entire hiarchey – run the plug-in and it outputs a list of all untextured faces…

Pretty easy once you get some familiarity with the program….

Good luck…

Regards,
Scott
