Exporting 3DC .im files

Sorry for the delay, back from Paris now.

Can you send me an e-mail with a bit more info on exactly what you are doing and what you are trying to achieve? (address in timex.htm file)

99% of the problems I’ve seen with the exporter have been with the config file, the IM files are usually correct.

The model name in the export is actually optional.

I created a simple object and tried to export it into TRS06. The process failed. The CCP in TRS06 found nothing to import.

Looking through the 3DC HELP documentation I found nothing about exporting to Trainz.

Having worked with gmax and Trainz for a long time, I know the file requirements.

What is the trick to a successful exporting out of 3DC into Trainz?

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

We would need a little more detail on what you are doing and what you are trying to achieve.
I wrote the im exporter, so feel free to drop me a line, I should be able to spot any problems.

I’m not sure if Richard included the help file with the distribution, but here it is.
My e-mail address is at the end of this file.

Hi Paul,
I’m runnin’ TRS ’04 and am only a few days old with 3DC Pro and have had no problems exporting into the game. Although I am very glad to fine this zip file of yours.

Thanks,
Rick

Thank-you for answering my inquiry about Trainz .im files. When opening the exporter, I found several selections and without guidance, I had no idea what parameters were required.

In opening the export file, itself, I saw the individual files and the CCP in TRS08 should have seen the gmax model–it didn’t do that. Trainz doesn’t require textures–it simply renders a white model.

I guess I didn’t get enough information about what the Tainz export window wanted. There two entires–what goes into them? Just the model file names?

Thanks agains for your response.
